Tuina for children

According to traditional theory, the organs and meridians of children are still “tender and not fully developed”. The meridians are not fully defined until puberty. Metabolism and growth change quickly in children. As a result, the course of illness in small children is particularly different from that in adults: the susceptibility to ailment, but also the healing tendency, is high.

Therefore, in China, it is recommended to combine special therapeutically effective techniques when treating ill children:

  • Tuina for children
  • Acupuncture
  • Dietary Therapy according to Chinese Medicine
  • Acupressure
  • Additionally nowadays: Laser acupuncture

Tuina is translated as “pushing and grasping”. As a form of Chinese massage, it is one of the original treatment techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In Tuina for children up to the age of 7, special therapeutically very effective zones are stimulated. These zones are mainly located below the elbow joint, on the arm and hand, but also on the legs and partly on the back and stomach. From the age of 7 on, adult points and meridians are increasingly used. Tuina for children consists of simple massage grips and techniques that can be learned easily by parents and relatives.
